The online doctor is ready to help you every day of the year:

Monday through Friday: 8:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m.
Weekends and holidays: 8:00 a.m.– 6:00 p.m.

You can send a message any time 24/7. The doctors will respond to your message when they open the following day.

How can the online doctors help?

When day-to-day life is busy

It can be difficult to take time off work and suddenly go to the doctor. Or make a call between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. With our online doctor you can get help outside normal opening hours. Even if you haven't booked an appointment, there is a maximum waiting time of 15 minutes.


On holiday or abroad

Online doctor gives you and your family peace of mind on holiday. There’s no such thing as closed for the holidays here. You can contact a Danish-speaking doctor online if you fall ill.


For the whole family

You and your family have access to unlimited online medical advice and treatment. There are doctors with different professional profiles, so you can get the help you need.

Who can use online doctor?

You can use it if you are a customer of AP Pension and have AP Health Insurance. The same applies to everyone in your household, i.e. your spouse or partner and your children.

If your child is under 18, the doctor will ask for an adult to be present

What can the doctors help you with?

The online doctors can help you with a wide range of issues. These include, for example:

  • Assessing whether you have a serious condition and whether you need to be seen in-person by your family doctor or by an emergency doctor.
  • Advising and perhaps treating e.g. middle ear infections, sinusitis, eye infections, colds and flu, headaches and migraines, muscle and joint pain, asthma, allergies, wounds, skin rashes and eczema, vomiting and diarrhea, urinary tract infections, sleep problems, mental health problems, impotence, insect bites, digestive problems, contraception, pregnancy and breastfeeding, sick children with a temperature.
  • Issuing and renewing prescriptions and advising on OTC medication. However, addictive medications and medications with the potential for abuse are an exception. Hejdoktor always follows the Danish Patient Safety Authority's rules in this area.
  • Prescribing antibiotics if the doctor can make a diagnosis without seeing you in-person or swabbing for bacteria.
  • Referral to regional public hospitals

If our online doctors are unable to help you, they will advise you on how to proceed with your particular issue.

What should I do in the event of acute illness?

In the event of acute life-threatening illness or injury, you should call 112 immediately.
In the event of acute non-life-threatening illness or injury, you should contact:

  • Capital Region of Denmark - Emergency doctor and emergency room: 1813
  • Region Zealand - Emergency doctor and emergency room: 1818
  • Region of Southern Denmark - Call your family doctor on weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Call the emergency doctor on +45 7011 0707 outside your family doctor’s opening hours.
  • Central Denmark Region - Call your family doctor on weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Call the emergency doctor on +45 70 11 31 31 outside your family doctor’s opening hours.
  • North Denmark Region - Call your family doctor on weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Call the emergency doctor on +45 70 15 03 00 outside your family doctor’s opening hours
Will my family doctor be notified?

We want you to get the best possible medical advice, which means that your family doctor needs to know what the online doctors have helped you with. However, you can opt for this information not to be passed on to your family doctor.

How much does it cost?

Can I get help abroad?

The online doctors are ready to help you, even when you’re on the move, whether you’re at your holiday home or abroad.

Can I get an in-person consultation?

No, you cannot book an in-person consultation with the online doctors. They only offer online consultations.

Who is behind the online doctor?

Hejdoktor is. You can get in touch with specialist doctors who can give you medical advice, renew prescriptions and answer questions that are on your mind.

All their specialists are experienced and are licensed to practice in Denmark. As well as providing competent healthcare advice at Hejdoktor, they also all work in the public health sector.
